Subang Jaya, 15 Feb - HEITECH Padu Berhad (HeiTech) has embarked on numerous process improvement initiatives in line with its aspiration to make customers more confidence in the company's deliverables and professionalism. These include the MS/ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System certification - an international standard that recognizes the quality and effectiveness of business process guidelines and principles - and IT Information Library (ITIL) - a best practice for service management framework.
In May 2006, HeiTech became the country's first IT service provider to be certified with ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification on Information Security Management System (ISMS) from Sirim QAS International. The ISMS certification scope covers area of HeiTech's existing IT infrastructure and services namely Padu*Net Nodes Infrastructure and Business Recovery Management Services.
HeiTech has done it again by achieving Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 to further boost its best practices in ICT (information and communication technology). CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. HeiTech kicked off its CMMI Level 3 journey in May 2005 and completed it in November 2006.
The goal of the CMMI project is to improve usability of maturity models for software engineering and other disciplines, by integrating many different models into one framework. The CMMI comes with two different representations - staged and continuous. The staged model groups process areas into 5 maturity levels, while the continuous representation defines capability levels within each profile. The differences in the representations are solely organizational, while the content is equivalent
HeiTech understands the importance of process stabilization and institutionalization for a big organization like it, and the time needed for its continuous improvement process. As a first step, HeiTech has been emphasizing on improving its project management and engineering, which are core to its business values and customer satisfaction. Hence, the decision made to go for CMMI Level 3.
"We are taking systematic approach to ensure that we have adequate balance in achieving the critical process improvement milestone and at the same time, also cater to our existing customer base". Said HeiTech's President, Safiee Mohammad
"Moreover, we feel that strong and well established foundation practices of project management and software engineering would make a more meaningful and beneficial approach in our journey towards CMMI level 5 by 2008.".
Safiee noted that HeiTech's objective is to upgrade the level of competency in systems integration and consultancy services because CMMI accreditation means that the quality of the organization's services will be at par with international standard
"This will increase the level of efficiency and professionalism as we have structured and systematic process in our ICT implementation programme. This will also enable us to value add our services to our customers in achieving their business objectives."
"With the certification, we have a strong mechanism to enhance the confidence of our existing and potential customers as their projects are being managed according to the best practices recognized globally." Safiee said.
